A task order to design a pedestrian crossing signal where the Kewash Trail crosses Highway 1 on the west side of Washington was approved by the Washington City Council Tuesday.
The engineering firm Bolten and Menk will provide the services of designing the signal to be added to the crosswalk. This was a project identified as a high priority in the parks master plan. The task order has a not to exceed amount of $4,000.
The scope of the work will include reviewing available daily traffic information from the Iowa DOT, collecting and summarizing crash data from the Iowa DOT database for the past 10 years near the crossing location, preparing a sketch of up to two treatments, and an estimated cost range for up to two options.
This is the first project on the parks master plan that the council has taken action on.
