The Lone Tree school board met in a recent regular session to discuss a multitude of projects for school facilities.

Superintendent Tyler Hotz updated the board on a potential roof project. The district is awaiting bids from the contractor of the project, and estimated costs for repairs are expected to reach up to six figures. The project would likely be funded through the school’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) fund.

The board also discussed the lone bid received from Iron X for the north side parking and drainage project. The project includes improvements to the drainage on the district playground, adding extra parking stalls and a retaining wall on the northwest corner of the school grounds, and the installation of three-inch asphalt on the north side of the school to avoid gravel washout onto Linn Street. The board expressed concern about the water discharge area, and requested a second bid from Lynch Excavating, a company that has previously done work for the district.

The board approved several hirings and resignations, including the hiring of Adam Knock as the new varsity head boys basketball coach, and Caitlin Atwood as the new 5-12 band teacher. Resignations included head volleyball coach Jaden Wulfekuhle, K-12 music and choir teacher Molly Clearman, 5-12 band teacher Jessica Cowan, school nurse Jen Schnoebelen, varsity boys wrestling head coach Brent Nelson, and varsity cross country and head girls track and field coach Alberto Cortez. The board also approved the track sidewalk project, and the use of a construction manager at-risk for the bond HVAC project. The contract for the track project is for $43,124.50.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the fiscal year 2026 budget and the fiscal year 2025 audit.

The board will next meet Wednesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. in the high school library.
