
Election day is Tuesday, and Iowans are encouraged to be voter ready to head to the polls for primary contests. In order to vote on Election Day, you must be registered to vote. To register at your polling place on Election Day, you must provide acceptable proof of identity and current residence for your voting precinct.
Voters will cast a ballot in either the Republican or Democratic party’s primary. Candidates who win these races will then appear on the general election ballot in November.
Precinct polling places for Washington County include: the Ainsworth Elementary School, the Brighton Community Building, the Kalona Community Building Gym, Holy Trinity Parish Hall in Richmond, the Riverside City Hall, and the Parkside Activities Center in Wellman.
There are four voting locations in the City of Washington. Ward 1 votes at the YMCA, Ward 2 residents vote at the First Assembly of God Church, Ward 3 votes at the United Presbyterian Home, and Ward 4 casts ballots at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
