The third annual Kalona Horseshoe Bike Race, part of the Iowa Gravel Series, is scheduled for this Saturday, May 9th.

This year’s race is expected to bring over 250 cyclists to the area. The race begins at the Kalona Historical Village, with the route taking racers through Washington, Johnson, and Iowa counties. The race can be run as either a 50k or 100k. Race organizers partner with the village to give the race a unique feel.

Registration can be done up to the day of the race. The cost is $75 to race, with lunch and shirt included or $50 for just entry into the race. Youth ages 18 and under can enter for $10.

On the day of the race, the portions of 9th Street and D Avenue and 9th Street and C Avenue will be closed to allow for the Kalona Horseshoe Bike Race to move through the area.
