Results of a recent survey regarding potential additions or modifications to Hall Park were presented to the Riverside City Council at its latest meeting on Monday.

The five-question survey received 251 responses. Questions ranged from surfacing materials , to amenities, to the overall design of the park, with a space included for any other ideas for the improvement of the park. The city is seeking suggestions and opinions as they look to replace the equipment removed from Hall Park last fall.

Responses showed an overwhelming majority in favor of a soft fall, solid rubber surface, over other options such as rubber or wood chips, or sand. Responses also showed a clear preference for equipment such as slides or swings, as well as climbing equipment, and a preference for benches and shade. Designwise, 45-percent of respondents indicated a preference for a “modern” design, with other top responses being “traditional”or “natural.”

Smith informed the council that the results of the survey does not dictate what improvements are actually made, but should be used as a guideline as to what the public wants.

Hall Park is the central hub for most summer activities in Riverside, including Trek Fest in June of each year.

Other business discussed at Monday’s meeting included the establishing of a future public hearing on the 2026-2027 budget for the city, as well as updates on both the future Wellness Center and CDBG Downtown Revitalization Project.
