The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities has confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down north of Kalona on April 2nd. 

According to the NWS, the tornado was on the ground from 4:11 to 4:16 p.m. for 3.9 miles and was 100 yards in width. This tornado snapped and uprooted trees, bent power poles and damaged several outbuildings. The roofs of one machine shed and three hog confinements were destroyed. 

An EF1 tornado is rated as moderate with speeds from 86 to 110 miles per hour. This tornado was one of three that occurred on April 2nd from the same storm system. 

The second took place in Johnson and Muscatine Counties, and was rated an EF0. This tornado was on the ground from 4:36 to 4:39 p.m. and made a path of 2.2 miles. The third tornado was on the ground in Clinton and Jackson counties for 18.1 miles, from 5:25 to 5:43 p.m. The peak wind speed for this tornado was clocked at 105 miles per hour.
