The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team spent winter re-writing their record books. The Hawks set or tied five all-time program marks.

As a team, the Golden Hawk’s 836 rebounds are the most ever for a single season. That number was eighth in Class 3A. Senior Jovi Evans led the team on the glass with 132 boards, eighth in the River Valley Conference. The Golden Hawks 383 total assists this season are a new program record. That total was sixth most in Class 3A this year. Individually, senior Katelyn Harland was the leader with 74 helpers this season, third most in the RVC. Mid-Prairie was deadly from deep this year, hitting a program record 132 three pointers. Junior Morgyn Bender led individually with 47 made threes, third most in the conference. Bender also set the individual record for threes in a game, knocking down eight triples in the Hawks road rout of West Branch in January.

The Golden Hawks 15.3 steals per game as a team tied the program record held by the 2012-13 Hawks. That average was fifth most in Class 3A during the recent season. Individually, sophomore Jeorgia Evans was the steals leader with 75 takeaways, third in the River Valley.

Mid-Prairie finished 18-6 overall, most wins since 2013. The Golden Hawks were ranked No. 12 in the final Class 3A poll of the season from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and wrapped up their year in the Regional Final round of the 3A tournament.
