The Columbus boys basketball team saw their season come to a close Monday night, as a trip to Durant ended in a 63-42 loss in a battle of the Wildcats.

Columbus was ultimately outpaced by Durant. The first quarter was relatively even, with Columbus trailing 14-12 after the first eight minutes, but Durant soon pulled ahead. Columbus was outscored 22-9 in the second quarter, leading to a 36-21 halftime score. From there, Durant extended the lead in each of the final two quarters, from 19 points after three, to finally 21 by game’s end.

Columbus ends its 2025-26 campaign at 9-13 under first year head coach Jacob Korbakes. The nine wins are the most for any Columbus team since 2007. In that year, the Wildcats won 14 games en route to a 14-7 record. Durant, meanwhile, advances in the Class 2A Region 5 tournament, where they’ll face Northeast.
