The first Saturday of December means Christmas in Kalona is back once again.
The city will be filled with festive cheer and several activities all day for residents and visitors to get into the holiday spirit. Kids can pick up walking stockings at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce and receive small, free gifts from participating businesses. In downtown Kalona, there will be live music and campfires set up along the sidewalks. Complimentary cocoa and hot cider can be picked up to enjoy while taking in a live nativity or a photo opportunity with a life-size snow globe at the Kalona Library.
The Kalona YMCA will open its Christmas Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can get some of their Christmas shopping done, while kids can participate in face painting, cookie decorating, ornament making, and more. Santa and his reindeer will also be making an appearance.
At the Kalona Historical Village, the Christmas Tree Walk will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be caroling and music, warm drinks and treats, and food trucks. Horse-drawn wagon rides will be given free of charge. At 5 p.m, the Lighted Golf Cart Parade leaves from the KCTC lot to make its way toward the village. Finally, at 6 p.m, there will be an Optimist sled giveaway.
