
The Wapello girls basketball team scored a road Southeast Iowa Superconference win Tuesday at Bob Hilmer Court in Wayland 49-46 over the WACO Warriors. Defenses controlled the action early with Wapello up 8-5 after the first. The Arrows stretched the lead to 25-18 at the half. WACO trimmed the deficit to 34-33 going to the fourth, but Wapello held back the Warrior charge for the win. The Arrows shot 37% from the floor in the win, pulled down 30 rebounds, had 15 steals and 13 assists. Individual leaders included 14 points for Mya Wagner, 11 points for Annaka Greiner, 10 points for Jakayla Nelson and 14 rebounds for Macey Kuntz. For WACO, Carlee Lunsford scored 11 and Drew Graber 10 points.
Wapello improved to 1-0 with the win, while the Warriors fall to 0-1.
