KCII provided live coverage of severe weather in southeast Iowa for the second day in a row Friday. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a Tornado Warning for portions of Washington and Jefferson Counties just after 2:30 Friday afternoon for a storm that featured radar indicated rotation, 60 mile per hour wind gusts and up to half dollar sized hail. The warning included the towns of Packwood, East Pleasant Plain, Brighton and Rubio. The Tornado Warning was allowed to expire at 3p.m. and was replace by a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Jefferson County and south Central Washington County, including the city of Washington, until 3:45. Rainfall rates up to three inches per hour were seen in the strongest parts of the storm. Four members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded with live coverage. Had the power gone out, coverage would have continued with emergency back-up generators. The one to count on for up to the minute severe weather coverage is KCII.
