
With the 2024 portion of the schedule in the books the Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls basketball teams rank among the best of Class 1A basketball.
The Raven girls are top 10 in 1A in 10 different team and individual categories. As a group, the Ravens are sixth with 134 total steals and 10th each with 126 offensive rebounds and 74 made free throws. Individually, Malia Yoder is fourth in 1A with 46 steals, seventh with 53 made field goals and 10th with 136 points scored.
Junior Claire Withrow is second in 1A with 27 made threes, fifth with 150 total points and 10th with 50 made shots.
Senior Delaney Shaw is fourth in 1A with 43 offensive rebounds. The Hillcrest girls have a 5-3 overall record and are 3-3 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference.
For the Raven boys, they are the best sharpshooters in 1A, knocking down 53% of their shots as a team. The Ravens also average 17 assists per game, ninth most in 1A and sport a 1.5 assist to turnover ratio, 10th highest. Individually, junior Rowan Miller’s 42 total assists are sixth and sophomore Kale Bailey’s 65% clip from the floor is ninth highest in 1A.
The Raven boys have a 7-1 overall record and are 5-1 in the Superconference North.
The Hillcrest boys and girls start the second half of their season Friday when they host Louisa-Muscatine.
