The Winfield-Mount Union girls’ basketball team used a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Pekin on the road Tuesday night 40-29. The Wolves trailed 11-9 at the end of the opening quarter and were still down a point at halftime.
WMU found itself down 26-21 going into the final period, but they would have an answer with a 19-3 run over the final eight minutes to get the win. Winfield-Mount Union is off to a 2-0 start to the season and will have a chance for another conference victory when they next play this coming Tuesday at Louisa-Muscatine.
