During the Washington City Council meeting on Tuesday, there were two mayoral appointments made. Mayor Millie Youngquist announced the appointments, “Next is a special presentation of a couple of Mayoral appointments, James Newcomb to the Board of Adjustment, and Chad Shull Planning and Zoning Commission.” According to a memo from City Administrator Joe Gaa, Mr Newcomb is retired from the phone company and used to live and work in Washington before being transferred to Grinnell then North Liberty. He and his wife moved back to Washington last year. Mr Shull is a Washington teacher, and he and his wife moved to Washington last year. He previously served on the Middletown Planning and Zoning Commission.
