The Washington Demons continued their strong start to the softball season with a 4-0 home victory over Marion last night. Three runs in the bottom of the third inning would have been all Washington needed, as pitcher Bella Salazar picked up her third complete-game victory of the season, this time in a one-hit shutout. The sophomore also struck out three batters and only walked one.

In the lineup, Demon sophomore outfielder Kendall Hinrichsen had a strong night at the bottom of the order, going two-for-two at the plate with a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in. Junior outfielder Emery Walton hit a double and scored a run, while freshman shortstop Leighton Salazar also had a hit and a RBI. Washington has now won three of their first four games. The Demons will next open Southeast Conference play by hosting Mount Pleasant for a doubleheader Tuesday.
