Washington came mighty close to winning their home opener, but the Demon baseball team fell short in a 5-2 loss to Muscatine last night. The Demons yielded a run in the first inning and two more in the second, but they would keep the score at 3-0 until Luke Beenblossom and James Strabala took advantage of Muscatine errors and scored in the sixth.

Unfortunately, the Muskies scored twice more in the seventh to create some insurance, and senior pitcher Ethan Silva finished off a complete-game victory by striking out the side to get his total to 11 K’s. Washington falls to 0-2 on the young season and will try for their first win tonight when they host Solon.
