Last weekend the best in southeast Iowa high school basketball took the floor at Burlington, Notre Dame High School for the annual Boys and Girls All-Star games.

In the girls contest, the away team was the winner by a 57-48 score. On the away team roster from the KCII listening area were five Winfield-Mt. Union players including Melina Oepping, Brady Buffington, Keetyn Townsley, Keely Malone and Anna Anderson along with WACO standout Ellah Kissell. Lady Wolves head coach Mendy McCreight also coached the visiting squad.

The boys game went to the home team 106-81. Only the away team featured KCII area athletes. They included WACO trio Cody Graber, Simeon Reichbenbach and Isaac Oswald, Winfield-Mt. Union pair Andrew Brown and Caleb Giese, Hillcrest Academy tandem Grant Bender and Luke Schrock, along with Grant Watson of Columbus. The visiting team was coached by Lone Tree alum Jovonte Squiers.

Two three point contests and a dunk contest were also held on the evening. Winfield-Mt. Union’s Keely Malone was the three point shoot out winner for the girls. Spencer Nelson of Danville won the boys contest. New London’s Kade Benjamin won the dunk contest with the Ravens Grant Bender advancing to the finals before being eliminated.
