hillcrest-4

Every other year, Hillcrest Academy provides its high school students with a unique and invaluable experience through their Service and Learning Term.

Lee Ebersole, Bible teacher at Hillcrest and Chair for the Service and Learning Term Committee describes the event and its purpose. “It’s a week long, generally, that students are divided into groups. Each group is working at some variety of service and learning experience, hence the name. It’s designed to create some innovative educational experiences to a greater degree than is possible in the traditional day-to-day school schedule.”

Students will be engaging in a variety of service projects throughout Iowa with some crossing state lines and even international borders. One group will be traveling to Kentucky to work with the Mennonite Disaster Service while another will be providing service in Costa Rica. A variety of projects give Hillcrest students the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom, while improving multiple communities and building meaningful relationships.

This year’s Service and Learning Term for Hillcrest Academy begins the last week of March.
