A strong push in the second half of the season powered the Highland Huskies to 10 wins in girls’ basketball this season, and the four veteran players who led that charge have earned all-conference selections from the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North. Forward Sarah Burton makes the first team after leading the conference in rebounding, steals and blocked shots and finishing second in scoring. The junior averaged almost 16-and-a-half points, 12.5 rebounds, four steals and 2.5 blocks per game, putting her near the top of the state in Class 1A in all those categories.

Point guard Katelyn Waters was also one of the state’s leaders in assists, averaging a league-best 5.5 a game while making second-team all-conference. Fellow senior Jessica Kraus was Highland’s second-leading scorer and is an honorable mention after putting up almost 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest, while junior Stella Slaymaker also receives an honorable mention.
