The Sigourney Savages swept their conference basketball rival Tri-County Tuesday evening. Sigourney saw their 14-9 lead one quarter in cut down to four at halftime of the boys’ game. The Savages’ advantage was further cut down to three after three quarters, but a 21-11 run to close the game sealed a 52-39 victory.

Senior Karson Weber paced Sigourney’s shooting by hitting three three-pointers, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sophomore Isaac Bruns posted 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots for the Savages, while the senior tandem of Cole Clarahan and Clay Morse combined for 14 points and 18 boards to help their team wins its fourth straight and improve to 12-9, including a 9-7 mark in the South Iowa Cedar League.

The Sigourney girls cruised to a 67-21 win over Tri-County Tuesday night. The Savages knocked down more than half their shot attempts and only turned the basketball over six times. Junior Carly Goodwin led the way with three made triples, scoring a game-high 20 points and adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Senior Zoe Webb added 16 points and five rebounds as Sigourney’s sixth straight win moves the Savages to 10-5 in conference play and 14-7 overall.
