The Columbus Wildcat boys’ basketball team suffered a tough 60-23 loss in their season opener Monday night against West Liberty. Columbus only trailed by three at the end of the first quarter, but seeing that deficit swell to 30-11 at halftime would prove to be too much to overcome.

Junior Tim Hills led the Wildcats in scoring with 12 points and also made a pair of steals. Senior Grant Watson only scored three points but pulled down seven rebounds. Julian Jimenez put up four points, five rebounds and two assists, while fellow senior Oscar Alcala had a solid night off the bench with four points and a team-high eight boards.
