The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team will make some history at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman Tuesday, hosting the program’s first ever girl’s duel meet. This is the first duel event of the season for the Hawks who have been busy on the tournament trail so far this year, scoring the school’s first ever girls event championship at BGM just before Thanksgiving and finishing as team runners-up at North Scott. Last time out, Mid-Prairie crowned five champions at West Liberty on November 21st including JET Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week Gabi Robertson at 105lbs, Ellie Brenneman at 140lbs, Grace Conway in the 140lbB bracket, Marissa Cline in the 145lbD bracket and Sam Stacey at 235lbs.

West Liberty will be one of the teams competing tonight in Wellman. The Comets best showing so far this year was in their season opener at South Tama November 17th where they had six champions. Iowa City Liberty will also be on the mat tonight at Mid-Prairie. They have wrestled at just one event so far, posting three individual runners-up at the City High Tournament November 15th. Iowa City West is also in Wellman tonight. They sent a team to the Independence Tournament on November 19th taking home one runner-up finish.
