It was another strong night for Highland Husky girls’ wrestling, with three of the Huskies’ four wrestlers winning their weight class at the West Liberty Tournament last night.

Highland junior Abbie Grout was the tournament champion at 100 pounds after winning a 6-4 decision in the first round and pinning her last two opponents to improve to 4-1 this season. Senior Mackenzie McFarland moved to 6-1 after pinning three opponents to win the title at 110 lbs. Sophomore Lilly Barre was the champion in the 125B division with a pair of pins and improved to 5-1. Huskies junior Angelina Roling added to the team’s strong night by finishing second at 115 and taking two of her three bouts.

WACO’s top performer was senior Bralyyn Wagler, who was won the 235B division with a pair of pins, improving to 3-1. Senior Grace Fort dropped her last of three bouts but still won the title at 190, moving to 4-3. Warrior sophomore Alyssa Graber was second in the 105B division after splitting a pair of matches, while senior Heaven Steege was second at 125 and moved to 4-2 by splitting a pair. Sophomores Rylee Rice and Emma Szewczyk both earned third place at 115 and 190, respectively.

Senior Teegan Sulentich continued her perfect start to lead Washington, improving to 5-0 at 155 with a trio of pins. Junior Jenna Bose was second in the 145B division after winning the last two of three bouts, while Demon sophomore Peggy Miller was third in the 145C division.
