It was a banner year to be an area high school volleyball setter. Three seniors – WACO’s Grace Coble, Winfield-Mount Union’s Keely Malone and Sigourney’s Brookelyn Hemsely – wrapped up their careers by compiling 1,300 assists. Not only did she reach the millennium mark, Coble finishes her career with 1,848 total assists. Malone ends up at 1,481, while Hemsley concludes her career with 1,398.

All three players also showed a proclivity for versatility on the volleyball court this season. Along with 600 assists, Coble added 117 kills, 55 aces, 189 digs and 26 blocks to help the WACO Warriors win 27 matches and reach a regional semifinal. Malone finished four shy of 600 assists and contributed 88 kills, 45 aces, 108 digs and 27 blocks for the Wolves, leading WMU to another Super Conference North championship and a 24-10 record.
