Mid-Prairie football seniors Braden Hartley and Cain Brown continue to put their names in the Golden Hawk record books. After a 7-6 first round playoff win Friday over Northeast Goose Lake, the duo continue their ascent in Mid-Prairie history. Hartley’s 40 carry, 163 yard and one touchdown performance helped him rise in the record books. He now stands 10th all-time with 1,926 career rushing yards, just behind 1991 grad Mikel Yauk in ninth place at 1,996. Hartley’s 1,335 yard 2022 on the ground is seventh best all-time for a single year, behind sixth place Jordan Montgomery’s 2004 with 1,413 yards. Hartley has 25 career touchdowns, ninth all-time and just behind 2005 grad Josh Berry’s 26 for eighth in school history. His 14 touchdowns in 2022 put him 14th on the all-time list for scoring runs in a season. Hartley has scored 150 points in his career, 10th most all-time just behind ninth place Berry with 156.

Brown had a grab for six yards Friday in the win over the Rebels. He is eighth on the all-time list with 753 career receiving yards, just behind seventh place 1999 graduate Brent Showalter’s 768. Brown has 417 yards receiving in 2022, 14th most all-time for a single year. His eight career touchdown catches are tied for fourth most all-time with Dean Anderson, class of 1980, Showalter, class of 1999, Josh Kral, class of 2003 and Sean Thornton, class of 2004. Brown’s five scoring grabs this year are 10th most for a single season, trailing the six touchdown catches each for Colin Brenneman in 2007, Zach Schwartz in 2013 and Colin Weber in 2014 for seventh all-time. Brown has 46 catches in his time at Mid-Prairie, 11th in school history. He is tied with 1995 grad Lee Gardner, 2013 grad Zach Schwartz and 2016 grad Levi Duwa. Showalter is 10th with 47 catches. Those two have a chance to add to their numbers Friday as the Hawks look for revenge against No. 1 Williamsburg on the road in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
