The WACO Warriors continued their undefeated football season Friday night with a 42-17 win over the Lone Tree Lions. WACO again held one of the area’s top quarterbacks in check, limiting most of the damage from Lone Tree junior Ethan Bockelman to one early and one late touchdown pass, both to Drew Gauley. The Warriors also intercepted Bockelman twice and sacked him once, holding the Lions to only 238 total yards and two third-down conversions in 13 tries. Junior Drew Diers was the leading tackler for the WACO defense with 7 total stops, including 2 tackles for loss.

On offense, the Warriors sped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back thanks largely to a big passing night from QB Isaac Oswald. The senior threw for 250 yards and 3 TDs. Senior Oleh Shtefanchuk had one of those scoring receptions and finished with 3 catches for 107 yards. Senior Simeon Reichenbach found the end zone twice and lead the run game with 125 yards on 20 carries.

Second-ranked WACO is now 7-0 and needs just one more win to officially secure their place in the playoffs. Lone Tree falls to 3-3. While the Lions will next travel to New London, the Warriors will be hosting Winfield-Mount Union this coming Friday night.
