Crooked Creek Christian Camp is bringing back its Senior Day event with a new name. The newly named Lunch and Lecture program is an event designed for people of all age groups to gather together and share stories while sharing a meal. The event will include a soup lunch, and a free-will donation is encouraged.

John Sharp a recently retired historian who taught history and Bible at Hesston College will be the event’s featured speaker. Sharp is also the former director of the Mennonite Church USA Historical Committee and Archives and has 15 years of experience as a pastor. He has also been a guide for tours exploring Western Europe, Central Asia, Prague, and Poland.

Heather Bender, the Executive Director for Crooked Creek, talked with KCII about how they ended up selecting Sharp as the featured speaker. “Our former Program Director knows him personally and knows all about his story and she was the one that recommended him to us because she thought that our community would enjoy his stories. So, she reached out to him and it was able to be worked out for him to be here for the event.”

The date for Lunch and Lecture is October 6th and will begin at 9:30 am with coffee and tea. To hear Bender’s full conversation with KCII, listen to today’s Washington Page or click on the Washington Page Podcast Tab at KCIIradio.com.
