Homecoming week kicked off for Winfield-Mt. Union Community School this week. The festivities began with the announcement of the 2022 Homecoming Court last Friday. Candidates for Homecoming King included Preston Prior, Christopher Alvarez, Kai Malone, Jacob Haines, and Caleb Giese. Nominees for Queen were Bayla Thomson, Bradie Buffington, Abby Miller, Keetyn Townsley, and Keely Marone. Brooklyn Robertson and Kionte McDowell have been selected as the Crown Bearers.

Following the parade last night, the coronation was held in the gym, with Christopher Alvarez voted Homecoming King, and Bayla Thomson being voted Queen. The excitement continued with Powderpuff Football and Volleyball games.

WMU students have been showing their school spirit all week with dress-up days. On Monday, high schoolers arrived to class in their best Zoom outfit, where they wore professional attire from the waist-up, paired with pajama pants. Tuesday’s task was to dress like your favorite actor/actress, or character from an Adam Sandler movie. Class Color Day was held Wednesday. Thursday’s theme is generation day, with spirit wear wrapping up the week on Friday.

Friday’s activities are highlighted by a pep rally at 2:45. Wolves football kicks off vs. LoneTree at 7 p.m. Homecoming week culminates with the dance directly following the game.
