At the July 19th City Council meetings, a possible first reading of changes to parking regulations was delayed until the next council meeting on August 2nd. After a workshopping session, the council separated each possible change into categories based on council consensus.

For a list of the possible changes that will be grouped in a first reading for the August 2nd meeting, click here.

These include a possible no parking zone on Highland Ave 140 ft. north of 1614 Highland Ave, no parking zone on West Van Buren St running from South D Ave to South Iowa Ave, and the installment of a new stop sign at the Old Highway 1 & North Marion intersection for northwest bound traffic. These changes were singled out from the rest because the council needed more discussion before approving them for a possible first reading.

Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien talks about why these specific changes to parking regulations will take longer for approval than others. “The cases that impact more residents are the ones that are going to take more work to figure out what really is best, and those are the ones that are going to take more research and examination.”
