The postseason started up on Thursday for the Lone Tree girls’ basketball team and they couldn’t get by English Valleys falling on the road 49-20 in a first round class 1A region 6 game.

The Bears (19-3) controlled this one from the start leading 8-4 after one and 21-9 at half. A 19-5 third quickly put the game out of reach and sent EV to the quarterfinals where they will host Sigourney on Tuesday. Kasey Chown led Lone Tree with seven points and Cate Sexton had four. The black and gold suffered 24 turnovers in the loss. Head Coach Ryan Shelman tells KCII Sports about the playoff experience. “We have a lot of young girls that played in their first regional game. It was big to get that experience and understand what the playoffs are like. We looked anxious early on and unfortunately couldn’t shake it. It was a tough night, but I can’t fault our effort and our girls played hard the whole game.”

The Lions conclude the season 7-16 and say goodbye to five seniors in Chown, Madelyn McCullough, Chloe Mills, Kinley Hayes, and Danielle Pettitt.
