It was the final home doubleheader of the season for the WACO basketball teams last night when they hosted Central Lee for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference bout with both schools recording a win. 

The Warrior girls had a hard time keeping up with the Tigers (12-7) falling 42-31 in Wayland. Ellah Kissell finished in double figures with 12 points and Emma Wagler registered nine. WACO falls to 8-12 overall and finished seventh in the south division with a 5-11 league mark. They will face Lone Tree on the road in the SEISC Shootout tonight. 

The WACO boys got back in the win column with a 67-44 victory over Central Lee (0-18). A total of 10 different players scored led by a 23-point effort from Hunter Hughes and Zach Schmitz added nine. The Warriors are 15-4 and 11-4 in the division. They will host Hillcrest Academy tomorrow in the shootout. 

It was senior night on Thursday with Jakayla Vradenburg and Breonna Gentry recognized on the girls’ side and Vincent Jones, Taylor Sutton, Tyler Sutton, and Zach Schmitz on the boys’ side.
