A trip to Marengo on Tuesday ended in a pair of losses for the Keota basketball teams when they were swept by Iowa Valley in a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader.

The Keota boys got down 32-17 at the break and didn’t have enough firepower to storm back in a 70-53 Iowa Valley (7-3) win. Evan Vittetoe tallied another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Cole Kindred added 16 points and Grant Garman had 10. The Eagles dropped to 7-9 overall and 5-8 in the SICL.

The Keota girls flirted with the upset for awhile trailing just 15-14 at half and 25-24 after three, but the Tigers (13-3) exploded for a 25-12 fourth quarter to come out on top 50-36. Keota is now 4-13 overall and 4-9 in the league.

Both Eagle squads host Colfax-Mingo tomorrow.
