The Washington Public Library is hosting several free hands-on events for youth this January.

Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome to “Lego Mania” for this month’s “Friyay Funday” early-out event from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday in the Nicola-Stoufer Room. The library will provide the Legos while kids just need to bring their imagination and construction skills. Older kids can attend a “Cookies & Make-A-Mug” event on Monday, January 24th from 4-5 p.m. in the Nicola-Stoufer Room. Those in 6-12th grades can learn how to make a do-it-yourself Sharpie mug while enjoying some delicious cookies.

Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried is excited to share about a “Box Car Drive-In” event happening toward the end of the month, “This is for kids from grades kindergarten through third grade to design their own cardboard box car and then sit back and enjoy a drive in story and movie.”

All supplies will be provided and registration is required for the event happening at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29th. Call 319-653-2726 to register.
