Mid-Prairie Senior Gannon Callahan hit a major career milestone last week. Fittingly on senior night, the Golden Hawk heavyweight, in his final home meet, collected his 100th career victory.

Callahan’s first victory came at his first ever meet, pinning Dakota Boline of Wapello in just 32 seconds in the Golden Hawk’s season opener for 2018-19 against the Indians, English Valleys and Eddyville-Blakesburg. Callahan recorded his 50th victory in the championship match of the WACO Warrior Invitational January 21st of 2020 when he beat Columbus heavyweight Seth Schurr in a 1-0 thriller. Callahan completed the climb to 100 last week at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman when he put Cooper Vaupel of Center Point Urbana on his back in just 23 seconds.

As a freshman, Callahan compiled a 28-18 overall record, his second season was his best from a total wins perspective, where he finished 36-11, his junior year has been his best by winning percentage where he ended with a 32-4 mark and his first district tournament appearance. He has returned this year after Christmas break, following an injury suffered during football season, to race out to an 11-1 mark.

Callahan is the 14th member of the 100 win club at Mid-Prairie. He joins Cael Garvey, Josh Wallington, Isaac Boucher, Cory Allen, Visouth Peterschmidt, Duncan McCain, Phirom Peterschmidt, Cameron Tolander, Levi Duwa, Josh Murphy, Micah Casper, Heath Ropp and Adam Greiner.
