Governor Kim Reynolds recently awarded $36.6 million in child care grants for existing and upcoming centers across the state including Ainsworth, Wayland, and Fairfield. 

Little Ducklings Daycare Center in Ainsworth was awarded over $20,000 to assist in providing needed equipment to care for 49 children. Jefferson County Kids and Singing Cedars School in Fairfield received over $522,629 and $414,700, respectively. With this grant, Jefferson County Kids will construct a new child care facility in Fairfield, resulting in 185 new child care spaces for children ages 0 to 12. Singing Cedars School will use the funding to support the goals to meet the high demand for early childhood care and education, including an expansion project and rehabilitation of an existing building. The Wayland Area Childcare Organization received $505,450 for a new nonprofit childcare facility in an existing building in central Wayland which will add 49 new childcare slots in the community for infants through early childhood. The Iowa Department of Human Services and Child Care grant awards totaled over $36,590,000 state wide for 108 projects opening 5,191 new childcare slots.
