waco-2

Playing back-to-back nights to start the week, the WACO basketball teams combined to go 3-1 in non-conference and conference bouts.

On Monday, the WACO boys had an area clash at Sigourney (7-5) and it was all Warriors in a 66-32 rout. They won every quarter and saw a 29-21 halftime lead stretched to 53-27 by the end of three. A total of 11 different Warriors found the score column led by Mason Miller’s 16 points. Hunter Hughes and Colton Leichty added 10 each while Cody Graber collected 11 rebounds and eight blocks. Graber was a blocking machine again last night with nine total against Holy Trinity and the Warriors rolled to a 67-40 win. The advantage was just four at intermission, but a 35-12 sprint in the second half allowed them to pull away from the Crusaders (2-10). Reece Oswald led four players in double figures with 17 points, Simeon Reichenbach had 11, Hughes had 11, and Leichty managed 10. WACO improves to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the SEISC South.

The WACO girls held off the Savages (6-7) on Monday by a 42-32 count on the strength of a 17-point outing from Ellah Kissell. Katie Leichty had nine points and 14 rebounds in the victory. Keeping up with the Crusaders (8-5) last night was a hard task and the Warriors fell 58-31. Emma Wagler paced the squad with 10 points. WACO is now 6-7 overall and 2-6 in the league.
