A total of 14 wrestling teams made the trek to Mount Vernon on Saturday for a tournament including area schools Sigourney-Keota and Washington.
Despite only bringing seven wrestlers, the Savages posted 101 points on the day to place sixth and Lisbon won it all with 264.5. Jack Clarahan took home gold at 170 lbs with a fall in 3:18, a 7-1 decision, and a 3-1 sudden victory. Cade Streigle had the upper hand in two of three matches to finish second at 195 lbs, Reid Molyneux was fourth at 138 lbs by going 1-2, Cade Molyneux fourth at 160 lbs with a 1-2 day, and Aidan Schuster had the same results at 182 lbs.
Washington brought six grapplers and managed 53.5 points to nab 12th. Aaron Boone continued his hot start to the season with a first place showing at 113 lbs. He went a perfect five-for-five with four pins that totaled 5:59 and an 18-3 technical fall in the championship. The freshman has made a name of himself with a 17-0 start to his varsity career. Other individuals that placed included Logan Frazer third at 182 lbs by going 2-1 and Colley Billinglsy sixth at 220 lbs with a 1-2 record.
