In a battle of KCII area girls basketball teams Tuesday in Winfield, the home Lady Wolves flexed their muscles with a win over visiting Hillcrest Academy 67-21. WMU controlled the action from tip to buzzer, holding Hillcrest to single digit points and winning each quarter. The Lady Wolves led 20-5 after one, 42-9 at half, and 59-15 after three. A trio of Wolves got to double figures with Bradie Buffington posting a double double of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Keetyn Townsley added 16 points and Melina Oepping kicked in 13. WMU had 37 rebounds, 14 assists and 12 steals as a team. With the win, the Wolves are 2-0 going into the holiday break, the Ravens fall to 0-2. Hillcrest next takes on Mediapolis on the road Tuesday while WMU gets ready for the Pekin Panthers Tuesday in Winfield.
