Continued postseason magic is the goal tonight for the Sigourney volleyball team when they make a trip north to face No. 4 Lisbon in a class 1A regional semifinal.

The Savages are coming off a win that won’t soon be forgotten in a five set marathon over Iowa Valley. In their final bout at home, the rubber match lasted nearly two and a half hours with every set being decided by four points or less and Sigourney winning the fifth  by a 15-13 score. Raegan Rozenboom produced a season high 22 kills and the senior leads the squad with 173 kills on the year while Macy Fisch has 115. Brookelyn Hemsley has recorded 482 assists and Maddie Hornback leads the defense with 483 digs.

Sigourney will have to be at their best against a Lions team that is 35-6 and winners of the Tri-Rivers east division. They swept HLV last week to qualify for the semis. Plenty of offensive weapons surround the group with Peyton Robinson having 318 kills, Ava Czarnecki at 293, and Ella Clark with 223. The team ranks first in class 1A with 1,142 kills and Kali Nelson sets it all up with a state best 922 assists.

The chance to get one step closer to state is tonight at 7 p.m. in Lisbon.
