The Snake Pit in Sigourney hosted a top 10 district football showdown of unbeatens Friday night as the No. 3 Sigourney-Keota Cobras handed the previously unblemished No. 10 Cardinal Comets a 50-26 loss. SK got the offense rolling early, leading 14-6 after the first 12 minutes before exploding for 23 points in the second frame to take a 37-12 lead into the half. Out of the break, the Cobra defense continued to hold down the high flying Comets while the Snakes used the ball control offense to bleed the clock.

SK put up 394 yards of total offense, 386 of that on the ground, averaging nearly eight yards per carry. Cade Molyneux led the charge with 35 carries for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Levi Crawford and Ethan Shifflett each had a rushing score. The Cobra defense had seven and a half tackles for loss on the night and four sacks of Comet quarterback Griffin Greiner. Aidan Anderson and Bo Schmidt each recovered a fumble for Sigourney-Keota and Evan Dawson led the SK defense with seven tackles. With the win, SK makes it back-to-back wins over top 10 opponents, having beaten No. 6 Pella Christian on the road the Friday before 20-13. The Cobras are 6-0 and will travel to Leon next week to battle Central Decatur.
