Three years until graduation and Winfield-Mt. Union’s Cam Buffington already knows his plan when the time comes. The incoming sophomore announced via social media on Monday that he has verbally committed to play football for The University of Iowa, just a month after the Hawkeyes offered him a scholarship when attending their camp.

The 6’3’’ 200 pound linebacker becomes just the second commit to Iowa in the Class of 2024. As a freshman, Buffington was second on the team in tackles with 50.5 and also recorded a pick-six. He handled a bulk of the load offensively with 114 carries for 956 yards and 17 touchdowns. Buffington has become a multi-sport star for WMU also averaging 17 points for the basketball team and was a state track qualifier in long jump.

The sophomore will lead a Wolves squad this fall that hopes to build off of a 4-4 season in 2020.
