After this Fourth of July’s fireworks show fizzled, the City of Washington is seeking a new vendor for next year.

The city council approved to terminate their three-year contract with J&M Displays that was set to end in 2023 after discussion of their disappointment at this year’s display, as they had increased their fireworks budget from $6,000 to $9,000. As per their agreement the city had within 30 days from July 4th to terminate the contract. During this week’s meeting the council discussed beginning the search for a new vendor or the possibility of partnering with another fireworks display.
