For the second straight night, the Highland softball and baseball teams made a long haul to face off with a south division opponent in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and they split a pair of games against Central Lee on Thursday.

The Huskie softball team capitalized on a six run fourth inning to power them to a 7-2 victory. Eight batters racked up 15 hits led by Jenna Sands going 3-for-4 with two RBI and Payton Brun went 3-for-5 with one RBI. Grace Batcheller threw a complete game giving up two runs (one earned), seven hits, and three walks. Highland improved to 10-2 and Central Lee fell to 6-4.

The Huskie baseball team got down 9-4 heading into the final inning and made a furious comeback, but the rally was cut short in a 9-8 loss. Trevor McFarland had a pair of hits with three runs brought in and Brenton Bonebrake had two RBI. Ethan Paisley tossed four innings on the hill with eight runs given up, but all of them unearned on seven hits. The Huskies are 8-3 and the Hawks moved to 5-4.
