A split is what fans experienced in Winfield on Thursday in a pair of Southeast Iowa Super Conference baseball and softball matchups between the Wolves and Lone Tree.

Getting back in the win column is exactly what the Winfield-Mt. Union softball squad did in a 7-0 win over the Lions. Madie Anderson did Madie Anderson things in the circle by twirling a gem giving up one hit in the complete game shutout. The senior allowed just the one base runner and struck out 13 batters. Eight players combined for 10 hits led by Anna Anderson and Emma Haines each going 2-for-3 with one RBI. This win followed a 4-3 loss to Central Lee on Wednesday. Jobey Malone and Melina Oepping each had three knocks while Anderson pitched 6 2/3 giving up four runs, no earned, five hits, and one walk. WMU is now 9-2 and Lone Tree falls to 7-6.

Down 7-5 heading into the final inning, the Lone Tree baseball team put up a three spot in the seventh to come from behind to prevail 8-7. Tyler Bell was 2-for-3 with three RBI for the winning Lions and Will Kleckner hurled 6 1/3 innings giving up one run on four hits and seven strikeouts. WMU lost to Central Lee 16-7 the night prior, but Jacob Ford went 3-for-4 with two RBI. The Wolves are now 1-10 and the Lions improve to 4-5.
