Another day at the Blue Oval for the State Track and Field Meet and another first place showing for the Mid-Prairie girls.

Fresh off of Danielle Hostetler winning the class 2A 3000m run on Thursday, the freshman anchored the distance medley yesterday and helped the squad place first in 4:10.42. Maddie Edgington, Tabitha Evans, and Amber Swart rounded out the relay that gave the Golden Hawks 10 team points to make 31 total. Heading into the final day Mid-Prairie leads Williamsburg by 14 points and has plenty of opportunities to add to their lead with seven events competing this morning. The 4x100m relay ran in the prelims yesterday and qualified for the finals today by placing fourth (51.10). The Mid-Prairie boys picked up a medal with Cain Brown leaping 6’3’’ in the high jump to nab eighth.

Brayden Hartman headlined the Washington boys on the day by placing 18th in the shot put (48’0.5’’). The Demons are currently tied for seventh in the team rankings with 16 points after Elijah Morris won the 400m on Thursday and Ethan Patterson was third in the high jump.

In the evening session for class 1A, Columbus Community’s Mason Hodges had the best area finish in the discus with a ninth place showing (146’6’’). Other notable performances included Highland boys 4x100m in 11th (45.03), Highland boys 4x200m in 12th (1:33.46), and Hillcrest Academy’s Aaron Hershberger 16th in the 400m hurdles (59.09).
