Revenge is on the minds of the Keota Eagle boys basketball team when they take on Montezuma Tuesday for the class 1A district 11 championship. The Eagles are 20-2 on the season after completing a season sweep of North Mahaska Thursday with a 64-51 win at home. The Eagles were led in the game by Luke Hammen with 21 points, Brady Duwa and Carson Sprouse each added 11. Keota is ranked ninth in class 1A in the final Associated Press poll of the year. On the season the Eagles are paced by Hammen at 17 points per game. Duwa has six rebounds and three assists per contest while Sprouse leads the Eagles at three steals per game.

Montezuma comes into the game with a matching 20-2 record after a 62-36 win over Lynnville-Sully last round. The Braves were led in the victory by Eddie Burgess’ 14 point, 12 rebound double double. Cole Watts scored 15 and Trey Shearer added 14. On the season, Monte is led by Shearer at 27 points, five assists and three steals per game. Burgess is best on the glass with 13 rebounds per night. These two teams met in mid January with Montezuma taking an 80-46 win with Burgess going for 16 points and 15 rebounds in a double double and Shearer adding 21 points. Bryce Greiner led Keota with 16 points, Hammen had 11. The winner of this game moves to the substate final Saturday against the winner of Mount Ayr and Moravia in Knoxville. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. at Williamsburg High School.
