The road to state starts up tonight for the Mid-Prairie boys’ basketball team when they welcome West Liberty to Wellman for a Class 2A district semifinal. 

The Golden Hawks closed the regular season 14-7 after a 59-36 win over Regina on Saturday to finish second in the RVC South Division. Carter Harmsen is the engine that goes for the Hawks averaging 18 points and seven boards a game. Senior Aidan Rath has been saving his best ball for the right time with four consecutive double-digit games and averages 10.7 on the season. The Comets are 4-15, seventh in the south division, and advanced after Regina had to forfeit the district quarterfinal. Junior Caleb Wulf leads the team with 13.9 points and 7.6 boards a contest. This is the third matchup in two weeks between these programs with the Golden Hawks winning by a combined 57 points in the first two meetings.
