The Washington Economic Development Group is receiving an award for a project conducted with the county and a local business.

The Professional Developers of Iowa annually sponsor the Business Expansion & Retention (BRE) Awards, which will be presented on March 18th. WEDG is receiving a BRE award for their work with Washington County and Premier 1 Supplies to obtain a Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) grant to help build 2.8 miles of paved road to their facility located southwest of the city of Washington. Premier 1 owners Stan and Jean Potratz and Ben Rothe along with the Washington County Board of Supervisors, County Engineer Jacob Thorius, Washington City Administrator Brent Hinson, and former WEDG Executive Director David Collins participated in the project. The BRE Award recognizes WEDG for multiple criteria that helped make the project successful.
