The Keokuk County Public Health Department is looking for volunteers to help with their next round of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Administrator Allie Helmuth says they could use an additional 30 to 50 volunteers, “Right now we’re looking for as many volunteers as we can get on file, that’s why we’re having them fill out our volunteer lists. We plan to mass-vaccinate as doses allow, so if we can even have people cover a couple of shifts or a couple of hours here and there, we could swap them in and out, so as many as possible.”

Helmuth says no pre qualifications are needed for volunteers to help with duties such as pre-screening and checking in patients or just being a floater or greeter. She says they can also use nurses to help administer vaccinations.

Helmuth says a date has not been set for the next round of COVID vaccinations in Keokuk County, and they hope to have more details from the Iowa Department of Public Health by February 1st.
