The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team is back on the floor today when they host the Cascade Cougars at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. The Hawks come in with an overall mark of 6-3 on the year, 6-2 in the River Valley Conference after a 70-35 win at Durant on Tuesday. Against the Wildcats, Mid-Prairie was led by Carter Harmsen’s 19 points, Ethan Kos with 16, Alex Bean with 12 and Aidan Rath with 11. On the season, the Hawks are paced by Harmsen, scoring 22 per game, ninth most in class 2A. He is also pulling down a team best seven rebounds. Jack Pennington leads Mid-Prairie at six assists per game and two steals per contest.

Cascade comes in with a record of 3-7 in the River Valley and 4-8 overall. In their last game they were beaten by Anamosa Friday 42-25 despite Justin Roling’s six points. On the season, Cole McDermott scores a team best eight per game. Jackson McAleer has six boards per outing, Cooper Rausch dishes out two assists per game and has two steals per night. These two teams met a season ago with the Cougars taking a 56-33 win on their home floor. Action starts this afternoon at 4:15 at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
